Two Commencement Ceremonies Planned  Dec. 7

Walters State Community College will hold two fall commencement ceremonies to celebrate the final Class of 2023.

The 5:30 p.m. ceremony will feature health programs graduates. This ceremony will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BGSPs8g5Co. The general graduation is at 7:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPP76yXCtLU.

The college will award 485 degrees and certificates, including 103 associate of applied science degrees; 192 associate of arts, sciences and fine arts degrees; 187 technical certificates and three academic certificates. Students earning applied science degrees and technical certificates usually enter the workforce shortly after graduation, while students earning arts, sciences and fine arts degrees plan to transfer to four-year institutions.

Both commencement ceremonies will be held in the “Z” Buda Assembly Hall and Gymnasium on the Morristown Campus.

Carla Todaro
Carla Todaro, associate professor of English, will deliver the commencement address for both ceremonies. Todaro became an adjunct faculty member in 1998 while she was teaching senior English at South Greene High School. She became a full-time faculty member in 2000 and has served as assistant dean and dean of the Division of Humanities. Her love of teaching led her back to the classroom full-time in 2016.
